I think I'm really, really stupid.... But I still have questions about car seats, strollers, etc...
Sorry ladies - I grew up in the city, and everyone just had a stroller and that was it....
Cindy's post spurred more questions in my preggo brain....
ok - there are infant seats, the next one up are the car seats, and then the boosters...
Ok - whats a snap n go? What exactly is the point of a travel system?
Could I just do this - get an infant seat and get a regular stroller, and thats it? Is it that difficult to lift my infant out of a stroller and into the seat, and vice versa?
Do all infant seats come with the handle so I could carry the baby in it if I wanted to?
All of this is so confusing - do I have to get all these things? I feel it's making things more complicated (and expensive) than I anticipated....
I need a 101 course here - could someone please explain this to me as if I were a 2 year old???

The Snap & Go is a frame-like stroller thing that carries the infant carrier.
I think most people technically get a travel system, because everyone gets an infant carrier, and a base, and a stroller no matter what, right?
However, I never used the infant carrier with the stroller (anyway, I got different brands)...I used the Snap & Go instead...it's so much lighter...I LOVE it! You can use that for...hmmm...maybe up to 8 mos. or so. Then you'll be onto the convertible carseat where you'll have to take them out and put them in a *real* stroller.
I wouldn't necessarily advise taking a newborn out of the carrier and putting him/her into the stroller...what if the baby is sleeping?
Here's what I got: Graco Snugride infant carseat Snap & Go Peg Perego Pliko P3 Britax Roundabout
I hope this helps, although I have a hard time explaining things to 2 year olds...guess that's why I teach HS!!

I didn't grow up in the city - but being an only child I was a little clueless so I looked in Baby bargains and spoke to friends and coworkers with younger children.
The above pretty much what we did - we got the snugride, snap and go -but then we also got the Zippy for walks outside and when the baby gets older - then we got the Britax roundabout for the convertible seat - we will get a booster seat - (some people get the marathon by britex instead b.c it has a higher weight - but many people I spoke to at work and baby bargains say don't bother b/c by the time they are that age they will refuse to go in a baby car seat (they could be 8-10) and so you are better at 4 or 5 to buy the booster seat when they out grow the roundabout

Heck..I know how u feel and this is my third pregnancy. I wanted a good carseat that goes to a higher weight and where I didn't have to buy 4. I registered for the britax sometihng,..then the reports came out and while mine was ok I got to thinking, how am i taking two babies sleeping out of that big thing. I re-registered for the grack duoglider and two snugseats. I didn't register for the two next seats. to be honest, i am embarassed to register for all these things. i figured I will get it myself later. The seats in the stroller fold down and the seat snaps in. The alumunium base system, did bad on the consumer report I pulled up. I am waiting and will buy myself a Phil and ted jogger for walks later on. You have more choices--u didn't need a double where both seats recline, so i had to get something that snapped in. Did I help at all>? I wish someone good just went and picked it all out for me! its a pain.
