We called in an Exterminator when we found out that we had them. He has been throwing this poision stuff down. The ants run to it and take it back to the nest. I can't wait until they ALL eat it. Free snacks from Sean. I heard they do some nasty stuff if not taken care of so I would say that time is of the essence. We haven't had them in the house....knock on wood. Only the backyard thus far.

I got rid of them without an exterminator. All I did was follow them and find out where they were coming in. Then, I put combat ant traps in key locations. Also, where they came in, I drenched a sponge in windex (highly lethal to ants) and it scared them off. Whenever you see them, spray them a few times with windex-- it becomes learned behavior after awhile that there is no food in your house-- just poison and death to ants!

We found them when we took the wall down in the basement, so we were able to see where their nest was... but you can do it without an exterminator, even with the wall up if you have patience. If you see an ant watch where it goes, then spray that area. Also spray all over the perimiter of your house... they don't eat the wood, they just tunnel through it, so they still have to go outside to get food. If you spray the around your house it will prevent them from coming in.

I have seen a few in the kitchen and DR near the sliders and now I have seen them in the bathroom.
