Carpenter ants

I think I am goign to be sick I killedabout 5 the other day in my kitchen. My kitchen is clean, my house is clean. I do not live with bugs. I sparyed with Raid and washed my counters etc. I put down bait yesterday, and I found 1 ant in my dishwasher this morning. Are they ever going to go away???? I am hoping I do not have to call an exterminator, my sister had this too, they found the nest and she still has them 1 month later. Do the ant baits work???? I have the creepy crawlies and I am nauseous from it. DH says I am at war with them. We had trees removed in the early spring, and now there is wood chips on the spot, maybe it is coming from that? We also had a new front door put in and it was off for 3 hours about 6 weeks ago- maybe they marched in then? What else should I do, maybe set off a bug bomb? I am at total war with them. HELP!
PS I also installed the plug in things from Black and Decker that attacks the nervous sytem of them, can it be because of the bait etc there is movement???

Re: Carpenter ants

1st = breathe!

2nd = spray down the entire foundation on the outside with insect killer and if you have a basement, get the indoor/outdoor spray and spray along the foundation in the basement

3rd = put the insect killer in the corner areas of your counter and then on the floor corner of one of the cabinets.

One way or another, they'll find the bait and die.

If the problem persists, call someone in.

Re: Carpenter ants

Are you sure they are carpenter ants? Also, finding five ants is really not that many...
If you keep seeing them, you need to find the nest or it will be very hard to get rid of them.
Carpenter ants do not eat wood, they only move it to make a nest, so they still have to go outside to find food. You need to spray around the house to prevent them from coming back in to the nest. Raid is not going to do it, you need to get the sprayer thing for the outside. Raid is more of an on the spot treatment.

Terro Traps. Within 3 days, they were gone and we never saw another again.
