Carpet or wood floors?
Not sure what I want for the baby's room. The carpet we have is fine, but the cat is always in and out of that room. We would have it cleaned, but now I'm thinking if wood floors would be better for the baby...less dust, etc. Do you think it matters?

Re: Carpet or wood floors?
We are contemplating doing a laminate floor (because we have a slab) instead of the carpet in the bedrooms.
I just don't like carpet. It traps dust, etc..

Re: Carpet or wood floors?
DH and I have dust allergies - I like the wood - we will have a hardwood floor in the nursery. I think it is easier to clean and less dust. You can put down a throw rug if you want the best of both worlds - you can get one that is washable.

Hard wood floors with an area rug.
Easier to keep clean and less allergies.

Re: Carpet or wood floors?
I am the opposite. My entire house is hardwood except for the bedrooms. I hate waking up and feeling a cold floor on my feet, I like digging my toes into the carpet in the morning. Also, when my 1st DS started climbing out of his crib, I was SO glad we had carpet to cushion his fall.

Re: Carpet or wood floors?
I had the same dilema, and we decided to go with laminate wood flooring, and got a great deal @ Costco's

We are going to use carpeting. I love the coziness of a carpeted bedroom.

Ditto. We are keeping the laminate (we did the floors about 2 months before PG) and we are looking for a cotton washable throw rug.

Re: Carpet or wood floors?
We have wood floors throughout the house. I am thinking of a little area rug in the baby's room...that way, if it gets too dusty I can just get rid of it. I dont like the idea of carpet because it traps dust/dirt and mites.

Re: Carpet or wood floors?
My vote is for wood...less dust, dust mites, and other allergens that get trapped in the carpet and much easier to maintain....and overall healthier.
