Re: Carpol Tunnel Syndrome?
You could also have a pinched nerve. You usually get CTS from typing in the wrong position a lot, but you can get it other ways, I think. The only way to releive the pain is to have surgery.
I have arthritis in my hands (yes, at 24 years old!) that could be another thing to look into.

Re: Carpol Tunnel Syndrome?
I had it over the summer, or at least that is what the Dr said it was. My wrist was killing me and it hurt to do anything with it. I had to wear a special brace at night when I slept. It didn't help. I bought new pillows (feather) and since the 1st night with them my wrist has not hurt once. I really think my pillows were affecting my neck and the pain showed up in my wrist from it because once I switched pillows I was fine.

Re: Carpol Tunnel Syndrome?
mets....im right handed, but i do 90% of things with my left i guess to keep my right one free.
i type with both and at work i carry things with my left. (well, im only using one hand now to typw)
i tried picking up a plate last night and just about cried. my eyes swelled up it hurt so bad.
im up now at 6am because i couldnt sleep it hurts so bad.
i notice that my keyboard is kinda high up so i strain my wrists to reach it. i bet it has something to do with typing.
my friend said she had it a few times and the best thing to do is not use it which is kinda hard with what i do!
its just annoying not being able to do anything. i cant button my coat, i cant lift things, i cant type with it. last night i had to ask my friend to roll up my sleeve and a regular customer (whose more like a friend) to go outside and bring our big sign in for me.
i HATE having to ask people for assistance like that.

Re: Carpol Tunnel Syndrome?
i just recently started getting some pain and discomfort with my right hand/wrist and i figured it was from the way i type all day long. I bought a wrist brace thing from CVS..its designed for carpal tunnel. So far it seems to be helping...i wear it at work sometimes when it starts to bother me and sometimes i'll sleep with it. A friend of mine just had the surgery in both her wrists and i just dont want mine to get that bad. I would recommend getting the brace though, it will just keep your wrist/hand stable in one position..but you still have movement in all your fingers.. hope you feel better

Re: Carpol Tunnel Syndrome?
I have HORRIBLE CTS, and I wear the brace at night. It helps a lot. Also, adjust your keyboard and get one of those squishy things that your wrists rest on. Another thing that makes it worse is if you sleep with your arms up under your head. If you do, try to train yourself to kee your elbows below your shoulders while sleeping.

Re: Carpol Tunnel Syndrome?
I went to a chiro and he didn't exactly say I had CTS but he said all my pain was due to th way I sit at work. My pain was in my right wrist through elbow. He had me take pics of my workstation and he said everything should be at a 90 degree angle. I went to him for a few weeks for treatment and within the first week I felt a lot better. Every now and then I start to feel it again but it is because I am being lazy and slouching so it is my own fault. If I lay off the computer for a few days I am back to normal. HTH.
