Cast Iron cookware
Does anyone have recommendations for something decent? I'm just looking for one 10 or 12 inch pan, but don't want to spend $120++ for a Le Creuset.
TIA!!

Re: Cast Iron cookware
I have a cast iron pot by Martha Stewart bought from Macy's and I love it. I believe it was on sale and then with coupon, I paid about $50-$60 for 7qt. casserole. If you are looking for cast iron pans, Kohls has a few from Paula Deen and Rachael Ray for about $50.

Re: Cast Iron cookware
I've had my Lodge skillet for 19 years. I have no idea what the price is on them now, but it is THE cast iron pan.
ETA: $20 at Target

Re: Cast Iron cookware
I have a lodge skillet as well- I don't think you need to spend the big bucks- I've had my lodge skillet for about 13 years now and it is never put away- I keep it on my stove top and use it pretty much with EVERY meal.
not sure if they come pre-seasoned.. but once you get it good (you want it pretty much BLACK - it becomes a non-stick surface) it ROCKS!

Another Lodge recomendation. They have a good selection at the cooking store in the Tanger Deer Park outlets. I think it is called le gourmet chef.
I even bring mine camping.

Re: Cast Iron cookware
Lodge is great. Absolutely no reason to spend any more money. The trick is to season it well and it gets better over time.
Just rub it with oil and turn it upside down in your oven and bake it for a few hours. I put mine in sometimes when I am not using it but using the oven.
It is fabulous.
