Cat Napping and 4 Months Old
My son Tyler is a cat napper and has been since birth.
When I say cat nap, I mean literally he takes 20 minute cat naps throughout the day.
At night he sleeps for 2 hrs straight from 10:30-12:30 or 1 if I am lucky and then he is up every hour throughout the night.
Everyone keeps saying it will get better, but he is now 4 months old and he is not even close to sleeping through the night.
Any advice or words of wisdom??
TIA

Re: Cat Napping and 4 Months Old
my son is a cat napper as well, though sometimes he surprises us with a 2 hour nap. your DC is too young for CIO at night. Wait it out a few more weeks and talk to your ped - some kids just take longer to sleep through the night. hang in there, we ALL know how hard it is!

I talked to my ped a few days ago and she said it will get better.

Re: Cat Napping and 4 Months Old
Our son (also named Tyler ) is 9 weeks old. He didn't nap at all for quite some time, but we started swaddling him when he gets cranky and sleepy and it has helped him take a couple of 1-2 hr naps a day. We also swaddle him at night and he is now sleeping 7-9 hrs straight. The swaddling helps him not wake himself up with his erratic arms and legs.

Re: Cat Napping and 4 Months Old
Taylor has a varying nap schedule. Usually in the morning, she will nap for 20-30 mins. In the afternoon, if I put her in the swing, she will nap for 2 hours. She never seems to nap in the car, so that doesnt work for us.

Re: Cat Napping and 4 Months Old
I have never, ever heard of someone who has this situation persist past 5 months old. So everyone is telling you that it will get better for a reason!
My daughter never took long naps until after she was walking, but her nights did get better. We were consistently down to one night waking by 5 months.
Healthy Sleep Habits by Weissbluth has some great wisdom in it...

Re: Cat Napping and 4 Months Old
My DD was a catnapper until 5 months old when we did CIO. Now she takes up to 3 hour naps, twice a day and sleeps from 7am until 6:30am most nights.
It really did help us.
