Re: Cat with chronic UTI disease?
Ugh, I have a cat who is a delicate flower and she gets UTI's if someone looks at her the wrong way.
We always have to take her to the vet for Antibiotics. One thing for us that has helped greatly is that we have changed litters to the kind that look like crystals. She used to smell of wee so bad that I used to throw her into the bathtub (gently, of course) after my son got out of the bath!!! Nothing like a wet long haired cat.
Anyway, the litter pearl things helped a lot. She hasn't had a UTI in about 6 months because of it.

Re: Cat with chronic UTI disease?
We've had our cat to the vet 2x in the past sixmonths with UTI's. For now, need to take it him to the vet for antibotics, after that though, we switched him to food specifically for urinary health and "special diet" wet food. So far so good.
Hope the kitty (and you) feel better, its very stressful.

Re: Cat with chronic UTI disease?
THANKS SO MUCH! I will switch her litter, I just bought her a new box hoping maybe this will help, after 2.5 hours only waiting at the vet then go in for 10 min it was very aggrivating...she got a urine sample and since there is blood it coule be stones..she gave medication.
DO YOU GIVE YOUR CAT LIQUID OR PILL MEDS??????????
I chose liquid but it is SO hard with Chilly.

Re: Cat with chronic UTI disease?
Also make sure teh food has no or low ash content. Frequent UTIS are also a sign of kidney stones-from what I remember from my old cat... Hope she feels better soon!

Re: Cat with chronic UTI disease?
Yes my cat is very sensitive too. She will get a uti when anything disruptive is going on. I have some baytril on hand if I notice the first signs. Shes been to the vet twice in the past year for uti treatment alone (not just her reg. visit). Try to reassure her that everything is ok.

Re: Cat with chronic UTI disease?
my female cat has had sooo many, and its rarer in females. We stick to urinary tract health food and change the litter often.
Usually a round of antiobiotics kicks it out of her, and she gets them bad ( lots of bleeding, lots of sitting in the litter box for hours on end.) Its so sad....

ETA- we have better luck with the pills..we roll it in a small piece of cheese.
