Catering & # of people

Let's say you are having a party for about 80 people. If a large tray says it feeds 10-12 people you are getting 2 pastas and 4 entrees, do you get 2 trays of each , or one will be enough to feed all the people?

Wouldn't you run out of like a chicken parm if it only feeds 10-12?

How does this work lol

I sometimes will assume a % will have some on entree 1, and other % entree 2, etc.

So if you have a chicken and fish option you don't need enough of each for everyone but I also wouldn't assume a 50/50 split

I always like having more than less

Ask the caterer what they think. I always over order and probably wouldn't if I listened to the caterers recommendation! LOL!

Ditto!!
The caterer I use happens to be my neighbor and for my DD's christening in June I was set on the number of trays and how much food. Well we had I think 75 people and that includes kids. I had enough food to probably feed another 40 people and so much of it was wasted.
My DH kept saying we didn't have enough food. He didn't listen to me or the caterer and when he saw me putting the trays out he goes "we have to much food". So from now on we listen to the caterer.

You also have to realize that guests are going to be taking a little of everything. I would just order more if you know that your family likes a particular dish.
