cats got out during a move
so my aunt recently moved into my home with her 2 cats and while moving in they got out in the backyard and we havent seen them since it has been 2 days  my aunt is devastated she has been putting food and water out and she even put a dog house with straw hay inside hoping that they would go in it if they are cold will they come back or are they lost forever cause its a new environment they dont know?

Is your house far from where she use to live? Maybe they are in that area?
 they come home soon.

Oh my gosh--I am so sorry. I'm praying they come back soon.
She should try putting the cats' litter box in the yard. I read it's best if some of the cats' used litter is still in there, but it could work this way too.
She should also check around where she used to live if it's not far; sometimes, they will travel back to their old homes.

Omg. I wonder if they could have gotten into the moving truck? That is terrible. Could they be hiding somewhere in the new house, maybe they got scared with the movers around? I will they turn up safe and sound.

still no sign of them i spent the day driving around the neighborhood looking im hoping they are at least together somewhere my neighborhood has alot of feral cats im hoping maybe they are with those cats since those cats know how to survive outside we are still holding out hope they return

Did you post on Facebook? Long Island Lost and Found Pets? Did you put up flyers? What area are they lost from? You say there are ferals, does anyone regularly feed them? You can ask them to keep an eye out and see if any additions to their colonies popped up.

Most cats will come back home they are pretty quick. One of my cats did that and came back a day or 2 later. Sometimes they just like to go wild for a few days. Hope they come back soon!

Sis where she used to live close? Take a drive over and ask the new tenants/ owners if they have seen them. I'm so sorry and hope they come home soon.

Can you post pics here so we can share? Post on Facebook: hurricane sandy lost and found pets ask them to post as afavorsince they weren't tech. Lost during the storm
Also post on Long island lost and found pets page
Do you call local vets and shelters? Pets can travel pretty far..put up posters in the neighborhood
