Central Air Conditioning?

Has anyone installed it inot their home? Just curious - how much it is to have done & any recommendations for companies that do that service? TIA

Re: Central Air Conditioning?

Since I have forced hot air it only cost us $5,000 to get central air. I believe the company's name was US Air conditioning.

Re: Central Air Conditioning?

There are many factors that can lead to different prices. The size of your house, it is a cape or a hi-ranch and from what my husband tells me (he is in the business, but commercial only) the biggest factor is how hard it is to run the vents.
Some homes have vents due to their heat, like forced air.
My parents got it done about five years ago. It was a hi-ranch, w/o any vents (oil radiator heat) and it cost them $8500.
Plus, it will be more expensive now then if you did it in the winter.

We installed it last year into our hi-ranch. We already had the vents because we have forced air heating. We installed a new furnace too with a cooling coil and it runs off the same system. Lots of different factors to consider. We paid just under $7K (and with the new furnace, that's also an upgrade to our heating!).

Re: Central Air Conditioning?

we just got 2 estimates for the high ranch we are buying. both estimates were very similar; it'd cost us 9-10k. you'd have to get estimates done for your house because there are tons of different contributing factors.

Re: Central Air Conditioning?

I too have a high ranch and it cost us with tips about $5300.

However, we did it in September and it saved us quite a bit of money.
