Cereal questions...
So, we started DD on rice cereal last week...the doctor said to give it to her for 5 days and then move on to oatmeal. She really liked the rice, but is not liking the oatmeal...don't know if it's the taste, or consistancy, or texture. Should we stick it out for the 5 days (she screams through the feedings), or move on to the barley which is the next in the group?
Also..what time should we give her the cereal in the evening? Around dinnertime 5ish..and then a bottle around 7-7:30? Or, save the cereal to go along with the bottle at 7-7:30? She has been going to sleep between 7-8 and will usually sleep til about 5:30 or so (she was doing this before we started cereal). Thanks!

Re: Cereal questions...
I would keep trying it for the 5 days. She is probably just used to the rice. If after the 5 days she doesn't start to like it I would move on the barley and try the oatmeal again in a few weeks.
As for the schedule I give my DD the cereal with the 2nd in the morning and the bottle before last at night. I don't think matters what time you give it to them. You should do what's most convenient for you.

I agree. I used to give my son cereal 2x a day. Once in the morning right after his first bottle and once in the evening around 5pm.

Re: Cereal questions...
Molly did the same thing. She really didn't like the oatmeal at all. I tried for a couple of days and then went back to rice. My feeling was that there was no point in forcing something she didn't like. She's young and the cereal really isn't part of the nutritional part of her diet. I will try it again in a couple of weeks. If she still doesn't like it, I'll wait until she is having fruits and veggies and mix it with them.
She eats about 1-1 1/2 TB at mid morning and at night.
