Cervical checks

Hi everyone!
I am 38 weeks and starting to get a bit discouraged. At my 37 and 38 internal checks the doctor told me the baby is rather high and my cervix is closed. I am trying to do things naturally and avoid induction. Has anyone been high and closed at 38 weeks and still gone into labor naturally/ or gotten better news at later appointments??
Thanks!

Re: Cervical checks

Yep I was 10 days late with my 1st and went on my own. My 3rd there was no sign of baby at 40 weeks and 2 days later he made his quick entrance. The checks mean nothing.

Yes, I was late, but was closed at my appointment just days before I started labor. I know how you feel about trying to avoid induction. My OB really wasn't pressuring me, but I was getting weekly sonos at the perinatal office and I think they started asking me at week 36 when my induction was scheduled, lol.

Re: Cervical checks

i was closed, not effaced and dd was high at my appt a year ago today actually Chat Icon
the next day i went into labor
i was 41w1d, i still went into labor on my own. my induction was scheduled for the 19th but I obvi didnt need to worry about it. i too was concerned about being induced so my doctor agreed to wait a little longer (until close to 42 weeks - but she was concerned with how big dd was measuring which is why we scheduled it).
dont be discouraged, things can change in an instant

eta - dd was still high when i was 10cm dilated and fully effaced...i had to sit upright for 2+ hours waiting for her to drop - so dont worry if your LO doesnt drop
