cervical length sonogram?
Hi!... Anyone need one of these? My doctor asked for one due to some pressure.... What exactly is it and do you get to see the baby? Thanks! :)

Re: cervical length sonogram?
it is a vaginal sonogram to measure the length of your Cervix. your cervix should be long.
I had them once or twice a week during my PG b/c I was at high risk for pre term labor.
Usually you do not see the baby unless you are not that far along..then you can see.
Once you get past the 20th week or so, the baby is too big to be seen through a cervical length sono and they are not looking in your uterus, just to measure the length of the cervix.

Re: cervical length sonogram?
I'm the same as Shellybean. When they do a vaginal sono to see the cervix, the tech always asks if I want to see the baby and she does a regular sono so I can see him. Just ask - it only takes an extra 5 minutes or so....god knows they waste more time than that at the Dr's office...

Re: cervical length sonogram?
I just had one done last week,to see if my cervix got shorter, but with me,they only looked at the cervix, and I did ask if he was head down,so they did check that for me as well.

Re: cervical length sonogram?
I also have to have these every 2 weeks. I get to see the baby also because for me they also check the fluid level.

Re: cervical length sonogram?
I have no idea why they did this for me at 24 weeks (not sure if it was b/c I was having twins or they knew one was low down) - but they do it internally. I think if the measurement is below 3 you are put on bed rest. I was, so I had to go weekly for a month, to check to make sure it hadn't changed. They quickly checked the babies at each sonogram, but that was done externally. HTH!
