changing in public issue
what do you ladies do when you need to change your DD/DS and there's no changing table/place to chane in a public place? I went to a resturant with a small one stall bathroom and was wondering this... thank g od that I didn't have to change DD then... what would I do?
Thank you! I don't want to be a public nusance or make DD uncomfortable b/c the places I go are not child friendly!

Re: changing in public issue
This is where I was always thankful for my Peg Perego since it reclines down all the way I could change him in that. If I knew I might have trouble with changing I definitely brought that stroller with me.
Also the back of the truck or when really young the front seat reclined back - when he got bigger this was real awkward
We do alot of outdoors stuff so lots of times I just laid him in the grass on a changing pad - hey ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

I've done the same. I've also used a changing pad on the floor of a bathroom. Of course you need to hold your child down & do it as quick as possible so she/he doesn't touch ANYTHING.
Not ideal but whatever gets the job done.

I always carry those disposable changing pad in addition to the one that came with his diaper bag. I take the disposable pad and line it on the toilet, I'll sit and change him in my lap. Not ideal, but it works.

When they're older & potty training, you can change them on the toilet. I would put Maddie on the toilet, take the sides to the pull-up off & pull it out from the back. That way any of the poop goes in the toilet. Than I wipe her up as she's sitting on the toilet & put the new pull up on.

Re: changing in public issue
I think if I were in that situation, I would take DS out to the car and change him. Then go back into the resteruant... no biggy!

Re: changing in public issue
I will sometimes just go out to my car and change her, or I will lay her down in her stroller and change her in a private area of the store or resturant.

Re: changing in public issue
I've put the changing pad on the floor of a handicap stall and done that once otherwise I'll do it in the back of my SUV. Luckily most places I've been to have the changing table.

Just experienced this yesterday. We were at a restaurant in the city and DS did #2. I am a first time mom - I haven't had to change him in a public place before. I was super self-conscious while trying to change him as quickly as possible - it was a messy #2 - I will leave it at that.
I think for next time, I will use the disposable covers like others have mentioned. Sounds like a good idea. i was just so glad no one else came into the bathroom while I was there.
If we had a car, I think I would've opted to change him in our car but no such luck!

Re: changing in public issue
I know this thread is OLD, but, this was my biggest VENT from FL... We stopped at a few rest stops and ate in a few restaurants in FL that had NO changing table.. My only solution..DS was changed in the back of the truck. No other choice.
I think it should be mandatory that ALL restrooms have a changing station. I even know of a bookstore here on L.I. that had no changing station and I was surprised because it was a very nice store. I had to change DS in his stroller.

Re: changing in public issue
I've used two of the disposable changing pads, lay them out on the floor and put the actual changing pad on top-with two, it's wide enough so DD does not touch the floor at all.
I have also used the back of the car.
