changing OBs late in pregnancy
has anyone ever changed their OB towards the middle/end of their pregnancy? how was the process?
i want to change my doctor. I got a good recommendation for another OB, but they said that they can't take me until they see all my medical records.
i just got notice from my doc that my medical records are ready (it took over 2 weeks)....now im just wondering how long the process will be before i find out if the new doctor will "accept" me?....
anyone do something like this? how was it?
thanks!

I changed my OB right at about 20 weeks. It really depends on how late in the game you are.
I called in the morning and they called me back later int he day to say they'd take me. They did say if I was further along they probably would not have seen me.

those that changed at later than 20 weeks, is it normal for the doctor to request all your medical records before they will even see you?

Re: changing OBs late in pregnancy
I changed OB's at 36 1/2 weeks, it was crazy and a bit of a pain but soooo glad that I did it. I had nothing but problems over and over and kept letting it go till I had my breaking point. My office I was seeing told me I had to pay for medical records, I told them it was for a second opinion (as my son was footling breech) and then they said that they could not charge me and gave me my records. I then saw the 2nd ob and loved him off the bat. He say me 2x each week for 2 weeks to make sure I was comfortable with him and then he delivered my DS and I still see him 3 1/2 years later.

Re: changing OBs late in pregnancy
just coming in to say who cares if your original OB isn't happy about it?
this is your body. your baby. your life.
if you need, want to switch... don't worry about upsetting your OB. i dont understand why they'd care anyway?

i agree. i am not concerned about my current OB's opinion. i was just wondering the process of starting with the new practice.

I changed at 24 weeks. New doctor requested all of my records. I am sooo happy I made the switch. It has been a smooth transition and I feel so much better. Trust your gut and do what you need to do.
