Late Ovulation and Chances of Pregnancy

So, I've been off of birth control for a few years now but all of a sudden my cycles are getting longer and longer. I've been charting my cycle since April, but know my cycle lengths for certain as far back as February.

February - 31 days
March - 31 days
April - 31 days (with O on CD 16)
May - 42 days (with O on CD 27) I blamed this longer cycle on getting super duper sick with a cold the week before I would have ovulated.

Little did I know...

So far, this cycle, I got my period on June 16th and am yet to ovulate.

I've been reading about longer cycles (not related to coming of the BCP) and am so concerned about the decreased chances of pregnancy due to late ovulation. I am hoping these two longer cycles are a fluke, and not a larger problem, but I was just curious...for those that have gotten blessed with BFP's, did anyone conceive with a late ovulation??

Dh and I have been doing really well with our BDing (pretty much every other day since CD10). I thought this would be our month, you know! I thought my cycle would be on track, we've had a great run of BDing, my temps have looked normal, but not much in the way of CM, and still no O.

I am just starting to lose hope!

don't lose hopeChat Icon I am a late ovulator and tend to have long and irregular cycles. I got pregnant the 1st time with both my pregnancies. I used OPK"s to track ovulation-really felt that helped so much. When I got pregnant with my DS I O'd on CD25 and with this pregnancy I O'd on around CD36 or soChat Icon SO yes, it can happenChat Icon

I would think it doesn't really matter WHEN you ovulate as long as you DO ovulate and that you BD at the right time.

You are certainly far from being out!! I know long cycles can be tough (I am on CD35 right now). Hang in there! Chat Icon

Bayla - I can't thank you enough for the little bit of hope you've given me back.

I know I'm not OUT, but man oh man, this late ovulation thing is messing with my head!

Thanks for the little ray of sunshine!

Makin' - I had just been doing some reading about late ovulation and a couple of sources have said that the later you ovulate, the less receptive your uterine lining is to implantation, as well as the egg itself being a little passed it's peak time. I could have read something bogus, but found the same info on a couple different places. Just had me a little concerned, that's all.

Don't lose hope. Chat Icon I've never had a 28 day cycle. I was on BC for 8 or 9 years. The first month off the pill, I O'd around CD 19 or 20 and got pregnant. Just make sure you keep track of when you O. Good luck!

Re: Late Ovulation and Chances of Pregnancy

I ovulated at cd18 when I got preggo with DS. Ovulating late certainly does not mean lower likelihood of pregnancy. Chat Icon
