Chantex to stop smoking..

Has anyone taken this or know someone who did?

My DH was prescribed it today and I have heard bad things about it, like nightmares and violent mood swings..

Any feedback?

My sister tried it and it didn't work for her. It's not like using a nicotine patch. It takes awhile to build up in your system. You really have to be committed to stop smoking to have success with it. They also have a support website to use along with it.

Two girls I work with were taking it. One got the bad nightmares and the other was sick to her stomach.

They're both still smoking.

My Mom was a MANIAC....completely nuts..you couldn't even speak to her, she thought she did thing that she didn't and vice versa...I wouldn't recommend it!

My mother and a close friend are both using it. My mother is almost done or has just finished. Only side effect for her was weird dreams. She said she liked them though! Friend is on week 3 and doing good. Weird dreams too but no other complaints.

ETA: They are both not smoking.

I've had several patients that were lifelong adult smokers use it & I'd say 90% of them quit & while they said it wasn't easy they swear by it.

DH took it last may. He had weird dreams, but not nightmares or anything.

Best part was, it worked.

He did have mood swings, but that was due to the nicotine withdrawal. and they didnt last very long!

I have a few patients on this drug and they swear by it. One patient has been smoke free for 8 months now.

My boss used he. He quit over a year ago. My girlfriend too.

I heard the moodswings are bad, but on a + note, it's worth it

My husband took it and has been smoke-free for over a year and a half. The smell of cigarettes is such a turn off to him now.

He had some weird dreams, no nightmares though.

He took the medication for 2 months before he felt ok on his own. It was a slow process, but worth it.

As for mood swings, I've been around him when he tried doing it on his own before Chantix. Nicotine withdrawal made him a very unhappy camper. If he had any mood swings on Chantix, I took it as par for the course.

I took it for about a month. I hated the way it made me feel (aches, lightheaded, sick to my stomach)so I stopped taking it. But it did work while I was on it. I know a few people who did well on it. I guess it is diffrent for each individual.

One of the guys I work with used it to quit and he cant even be near a cigarette without getting queezy.

DH took it in the beginning of the year, had no side effects and hasn't smoked in 7 months.

However, last month, his job sent around a notice saying that employees were not allowed to use it due to the side effects.

My DH tried it at the beginning of the year to quit chewing tobacco, not smoking. He couldn't deal with the stomach issues, so he stopped taking it. Mind you, I'm not sure he was or is 100% committed to stopping
