she actually killed her dad...... what the heck would that have to do with her not wanting to get married?
im sorry, but whats with the ???? why would you at someones beliefs? they never said that them not getting married will speed up the process or anything of the sort! i know people that are NOT celebs that are doing the same thing.
i think its respectable.
i never even thought about doing that when i got engaged, but if i wasnt already married now maybe down the road i would do the same thing.
im sorry, i dont know why, but im taking offense to the for ppl standing up for what they believe in.

IMO if they really stood by their beliefs they would be out there making public stances on the topic...
i am not a BIG celeb watcher but i really don't remember when they was a gay marriage rally seeing Charlize there
nor have i ever heard her speaking out in support of it...
passively saying that "i am not getting married until such happens"
Just imo seems cheesy...and passive.
Like her not getting married does anything for gay people wanting to get married

Yes, Charlize's mom killed her husband, which is Charlize's dad.
Anyway, Charlize and Stuart (her BF) were the only celeb couple I know of that said that they won't get married until everyone can get married. They said this last year. It's "their thing". Brand and Angelina...well, it's their new thing I guess. Perfect to jump on that bandwagon. And that's for "Brangelina"...that's exactly how I feel about them.
Hmmm, so the other times Angelina got married she didn't care about gay people? And what about Brad? Don't try to use a cause that's not yours so that people won't ask you questions.-
At least Charlize and Stuart have never been married.

Marriage obviously was a horrible thing for her mom. I'm sure it scarred her for life. It's quite simple, actually.

No, it was the mom. Every story about it says it was the mom. She shot the husband. She never went to jail. This is the same story I have heard since forever. Not sure where the confusion lies?

Thirteen years ago at the family's home in South Africa, Gerda Theron shot dead her husband as he threatened to kill her and their 15-year-old daughter Charlize.
"You have sacrificed so much for me to be able to live here and make my dreams come true," Theron, 28, said in her acceptance speech. "There are no words to describe how much I love you."
Here is what happened the night Charles Theron was shot:
The 15-year-old Charlize, home from boarding school for the holidays, had gone to a family party with her parents. Mother and daughter left early. But when Charles Theron, a violent alcoholic, returned to their home near Johannesburg, he found the gates had been locked and he could not get in.
In a rage, he blasted the locks off with a shotgun and, once inside the house, started shooting into the air and screaming abuse.
Mrs Theron grabbed her daughter and ran for cover in a bedroom. Her husband shouted, "Tonight I am going to kill both of you," as he fired through the bedroom door.
The mother grabbed another gun and ran out of the room, shooting him in the arm and chest.
"I knew he was going to kill us," she later told police. "Someone had to stop him."
She was never prosecuted for her husband's death. Eventually South Africa's attorney-general ruled she had acted in self-defence.
At 16, Charlize Theron won a contract to go to Milan as a model.
Her mother urged her to leave South Africa and fulfill her dreams while she stayed to face the police inquiry. Two years later, she presented her daughter with a one-way ticket to Hollywood.

Hmmm, yeah, it is. Hence why others agree with me that this would pretty much ruin marriage for you. At the very least it would ruin men. You learn so much from your dad. Not cool when he's an alcoholic and abusive and gets killed by your mom.

Completely agree. No one cares if you aren't getting married. This is a great cop out. Lobby politicians if you want true and lasting change.

I think Republicans probably think that celebs make a mockery of marriage anyway, what with so many H'wood marriages that are over before the ink is dry on the paperwork. So I don't think that what Brad, Angelina and company are doing is going to make a bit of difference. If anything, it's getting their names in the media again.

what if i felt that way, its a personal choice....... doesnt mean i have to lobby in washington!!! it would just be MY deicision... i wouldnt be preaching to others... just like charlize and stuart arent.
unless youre totally preaching, THAN you should practice what you preach and go lobby in washington.
sasha, isaw an interview where she basically admitted she did it. not sure where you heard the mom did it, although i know there was rukus with the mom.... he went it to kill charlize and she shot him in self defense.

Jess, if it's someone's true opinion, fine. But I don't buy the whole Brad and Angelina thing. I mean, how many times was she married? And NOW when it's super convenient she doesn't believe in it anymore? Puhleeze!
I think you got it confused...because the story is the same (I linked to a few different stories above) but it was the mom who killed him in self defense. Charlize was in the house. But the mom shot him.
In any case, either scenario is pretty horrible. That would make me not trust men.
