Charlotte Danielson is killing me!
Please excuse this vent:
I have just spent the past HOUR selecting the first component in domain 1 that I will be observed in next week & providing evidence for how my lesson addresses the elements of the component.
Two more components (in 2 different domains) to go...
So, that puts me at about 1 a.m.?

I actually like the Danielson model.  It is definitely better than the NYSUT alternative, which has so many more categories.

.. we get observed on 3 domains, but only 1 component from each. We need to show all of the elements in the component, though.
Two domains are mandated - we have to pick the third from a choice of 2. The third domain & component is subject to approval by administration.
It was a looong night.
Maybe once I become more familiar with the model, it will get easier...

She is NOT happy. This was to be used as professional development NOT for evaluating teachers.

I saw her speak last year and someone asked how she saw this being applied to a special ed. population and she (very carefully, since it was a DOE event) said that it was designed for a general ed. population for professional development.
That being said, I do think that it is a good tool, when used constructively. My school is using it in a good way, I think. We all set goals in certain areas and are being observed on our progress in the domains we self-identified as points we need to work on.

In my observations, we need to show how we combine them all in our lessons - each domain doesn't stand alone - I think 1 and 3 and 2 and 4 go together....
I like the model, but I have a 6:1:2 self contained of emotionally disturbed boys with severe learning disabilities and attention issues. Keeping them engaged and interacting for more than 10 minutes is impossible. 10 minutes is a huge step for them!!!! I get observed in a week!!!

It specifically excludes my area in her book, yet my district is just ignoring her.
