The houses are generally on the smaller side. The bedrooms are usually pitched because most of them are capes. Bedrooms aren't always on the same floor either - sometimes the master is on the first floor and then 1-2 bedrooms upstairs. The kitchens are tiny. The properties sizes aren't that big either - and most of the homes are cookie cutter properties. That's how Levitt designed them.
Nothing wrong with any of the above, but those are my observations when I look in the surrounding areas and the properties they offer.
Well a levitt cape didnt have a bathroom upstairs. Only the one bathroom on the main floor so no pitched roof there
June what are you talking about? I didn't mention a bathroom in my post at all 
oops sorry me bad I read the bedroom had pitched roof and thought it said bathroom

I guess you didnt read my post about 2 up- I quoted the thread- CHEAP house in levittown- Why are you taking it so personal- levittown homes are cheaper than MOST towns on long island- that doesnt mean anything negative! I was just commenting on why are they so cheap as the thread posted! Anything 450 and below is cheap for long island but again its not saying its a bad thing! I wish most of the island had these price ranges!
anything 450,000.00 and below is cheap well I guess we have different thoughts then

Also one last think this thread says Cheap HOUSE. It was one house which we said was on a BUSY road and next to division Ave HIGH SCHOOL!
You said the HOUSES in levittown are cheap. This thread no where said levittown was cheap. Just posting a cheap house.

Exactly. especially in the south. for long island- I guess I will use the term "less than" b/c the cheap word seems to bother some- i dont know why since I was quoting the thread and said I didnt mean anything bad by using that word that 450 and below is less than what MOST houses on the island go for and frankly you arent getting much for your dollar which is sad.

The fact is, Levittown houses are realatively cheaper than houses in Seaford, Wantagh and Massapequa and she wanted to know why. No one is trying to insult anyone or cause drama.

I grew up in levittown. I love Levittown and im moving to Levittown. To a house that was more then 400,000.00 which I dont consider "cheap" I stick up for things I love.

But thats the think. Just because some of the houses there are "cheap" doesnt mean there arent other houses that arent "cheap"
Levittown has gotten a bad rap for a long time. just defending it.

i don't think the houses in Levittown are cheap (in price) at all. comparitively speaking, YES, they aren't as nearly as expensive as some other parts of long island...but IMO $400K-$450K is alot of money!

i am looking at houses all over long island and to be honest, the capes of Levittown are far from cheap....They are quite price for a little cape IMO.
And if you compare their prices and taxes with other areas they are not cheap what so ever...

Yes it is cheapER for nassau homes
but you hop over to suffolk and to spend that kind of money on a "cheap cape" is INSANE

No I agree as I said before you are not getting much for your money with those prices in levittown - like you said for a little cape but it is less than what you will find around levittown so I wanted to know why.

Hey.... I am buying a CHEAP house in Levittown and I am very happy doing so. 
Saving me a ton of cash compared to other parts of Nassau County. And its saving me a hell of a commute I would have if I was coming in from Suffolk.

Well all I was trying to say is yes there are some houses in Levittown that are cheaper. they need lots of work or are small. The others are more then 400 see some of my links. They are there. They same goes for the surronding areas.

I have found many homes in the surrounding towns for under $450k. I almost bought a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath dutch colonial in Bellmore for $392,500 a few months back. The house was totally renovated inside and out, and the taxes were low too.
Not all of the surrounding towns are only filled with houses that are over $450k. You have to search for the houses that are reasonable in price. That house in Bellmore was not the only house that I found for that price, I found a few in South Merrick for Under $400k, and in Wantagh for under $410k with wantcgh Schools...I also found them in other towns like Bethpage, seaford etc....

you can def find homes in suffolk in levits price range that have bigger properties but that wasnt my question or second post on page 1- looking at towns around levittown and wanted to know why the houses their are cheapER.

Because I think the lack of a basement keeps the prices down.
