check out what we made this weekend!
We got a lot done this weekend! We painted the walls in the area of our bedroom where baby will sleep (there is a little nook that we are turning into a little makeshift nursery until we can afford an extension, a move, or the economy turns around )
We ordered the crib.
AND... we re-purposed Dh's old dresser to be a baby dresser!
We took an unfinished dresser, painted it the green color from the bedding set, and decopaged (spelling?) the "wall decals" from the bedding set onto the dresser.
What do you think?
Old dresser: (It's the light colored one in the corner. THat is also a shot of the area we are turning into our nursery. We painted it a sage green that is about one shade lighter than the new dresser)
Bedding:

Thanks! DH had no faith in me. He was all complaining because he wanted to get a new dresser. But, this one fit PERFECTLY in the space we needed and so we didn't need a new one.
After it was done, he was like.. WOW.. this is so much better than anything we would have bought.... I love being right

omg i love the dresser....DH and I were discussing doing something similiar with one that we currently have in our guest room (which will become babys room) but I am scared I'm going to mess it up...yours looks awesome

Actually, I was really scared too. But it was sooo easy. We got a satin finish paint (benjamin moore aura paint goes on soo nicely and it is low fume and no enviornmental toxins)
Then the part I was really scared was the decals. But, that was suprisingly easy. We placed them on and used a utility knife to cut them along the edge of the drawer. The decal material cut really easily!

That looks amazing! You should seriously consider going into business doing that!
How did you decoupage it? I am considering doing the same thing to a toybox!

Where did you end up ordering the crib from???
We got this crib from Walmart.
It is BassetBaby.
We ordered it so early because I thought it would take a long time to come... But, umm.. yeah... 2-3 weeks!!! Eeekk... What the heck am I going to do with a crib in 2 weeks! You know I will have to set it up right away! But. my aunt said, set it up and you can store all the baby stuff in there! She has a point!
We also got this overhead lamp that my dad has to install. 
Then we need to figure out how to hang sheer, white/green curtains across the whole front of the area to further separate it from the rest of the room. The one wall comes out further than the other so a straight tension rod won't work. Any ideas?
Here are some pics of the area painted. ( I need to hem those curtains! They are crazy long!) The dresser will come out, of course. That is where the crib will go and then the babies dresser will go in the right hand corner facing out. We are also putting up a high shelf on the right wall, with some pictures, probably of the maternity photo shoot. And then behind the crib on the left wall we will hang the quilt from the bedding as a wall hanging. Image Attachment(s):

I just painted it with a satin finish paint and stuck on the wall decals which had a sticky side, so that made it easier. Then I covered it in 2 coats of high gloss varnish! I was super, super easy!

Ikea has room dividers and sheers (very cheap too). I think the name of the system is KVARTAL. You might want to check that out online.
