Chicken Kabobs - question

I'm making them for Sunday. Should I do chicken only skewers and veggie only skewers? Or will the cook evenly if I mix chicken & veggies on each skewer?

Not sure what veggies to use, thinking peppers, onions, zucchini, & mushrooms.

And another question - I dont know how much chicken and veggies to buy. There will probably be 10 to 12 people there and everyone is bringing food (burgers, sausage, hot dogs, steaks).

That is the safest way to do it - but many people have been eating mixed skewers for years...

I make the America's Test Kitchen Kabobs with chicken, peppers and red onion all on one skewer. It cooks fine. Just make sure to cute everything the same size.

Re: Chicken Kabobs - question

I like to cook only skewers of chicken and then only skewers of the vegetables. This way i can easily control how each item gets cooked.

For veggies, I find the best is tomatoes, green peppers, red peppers, onions and mushrooms.

For 12 people, I was originally thinking maybe 5 pounds of chicken for the kabobs until I saw there is going to be plenty of other food for people to eat. So now, I am thinking 2.5-3 pounds.
