Chicken pox!!! Can anything else go wrong??

So yesterday I noticed something on Jacob's cheek, it looked like a bite so I didn't think anything of it..

Fast forward to this morning he woke up with more of these so called bites so I went to the doctor this morning...

Her diagnosis: possible bites but probably Chicken Pox!!!

I am clueless how this has happened. He feels fine. He received the chicken pox vaccination so how does this happen..

She said you can get a very mild case of it even if they were vaccinated..

I have no clue where he could have gotten it from-- no one yet at school has it.. I have been to tons of birthday parties in the past couple of weeks..

Now I am worried about Chloe..

Has anyone experienced this with a 3 year old..??

And do you think I can get some better luck with sickness in my family??

unbelievable..

ok, feel better to vent!!!

I dk...I kind of think she should know the diff between a bite and chicken pox
Does or did it even look like a pimple?
Does it itch?
Circle them all with a marker--then wait and see if u get more.
Eventually a fever or something will come to surface.
hugs

I agree, the ped should def know the difference b/t a bite and chicken pox!
this is why I didnt get DD the varicella vaccine, b/c you could still get it.

Is the varicella vaccine optional or is it required for schools? TIA!

same thing happened to my nephew - they turned out to be sand flea bites. it takes 3 weeks for the bumps to show up - so you have to think back to where you were 3 weeks ago.

also the bumps should get puss if they are ch pox

It looks the same as earlier this morning. I counted he has 10 bumps on different part of his face/neck and a couple on his arms..

He was no where near the beach in the past 3 weeks-- we were busy with my father father passing away and shiva at that time..

I have read up on it and it can happen but you can have a very very mild case of it no more than 30 bumps and they do not have to be puss filled like when we got chicken pox years ago..

I wish it is bug bites..

I will tell you he is playing like any other day..so you would never know and he is not itchy at all...

positive to all of this is that I can keep working on potty training him. He needs to be potty trained for school by the end of the month ohterwise I have to be around to change his pullup.. We got peeing down now on to pooping...

Could he have Molluscum Contagiosum?

When my girls were in 1st grade they developed Molluscum. Both the school nurse and their ped thought that they had the chicken pox. I wound up taking them to the dermatologist who made the diagnosis.

It looks very similar to chicken pox and is in fact a pox virus too.

If you google Molluscum Contagiosum make sure that you are looking at sites that pertain to CHILDREN and not adults. In adults it's usually an STD and a different strain.

Here is the link to what Wikipedia has to say...

when i got the chicken pox i got it from the food store. its bizarre but i was 18 and dealing with money and public and got it. so i could be as simple as coming into contact with someone at a store.

They don't have to itch and they also don't need a fever. My 8 year old DS had them the week school started. He had no symptoms other than these pimple like things. It was a very mild case because of the vaccine. No pain, no fever, nothing. My child was running around and all. I hope you little one has a similar case. It will pass soon.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Chicken pox!!! Can anything else go wrong??

They could just be mosquito bites, if he had chicken pox he would be running a fever, and the bumps would be in warm areas of the body, starting on the stomach.

I hope he feels better soon!Chat Icon

Re: Chicken pox!!! Can anything else go wrong??

It is definately chicken pox-- he woke with more of them on is legs and arms this morning...

Thank goodness it is a mild case with now itching at all.. and the only reason it is like this is because he got the vaccine....

I am just trying to figure out where he got this from... I haven't heard of any other cases as of yet...

It has to be either school, the 10 bdpaarties he attended or his speech therapy place.... I have been keeping him home otherwise to work on potty training... ughhhh....
