Chicken Pox Vaccine
There was an article in People this week about mothers who take their children to Chicken Pox parties rather than have them vaccinated. I couldn't believe it, I would never do something like that to Alex. I would feel horrible. The reason is they say that vaccines might be linked to Autism. Is there anyone out there who opted against the Chicken Pox Vaccine for this reason.

Re: Chicken Pox Vaccine
All three of mine got it. The school system here won't let them go wothout it. I don't think that's fair for people who decide against it but I also don't want them to suffer through the chicken pox either.

Re: Chicken Pox Vaccine
The risk of them being so sick from the chicken pox out weighs any risk of any studies that link this shot with autism. My son just had his last week.

Re: Chicken Pox Vaccine
I never heard that autism is caused by the chicken pox shot. I heard that the MMR shot can cause it since thats the only shot that still ahs mercury in it but there isn't that much in that shot either
I had the chicken pox when I was younger and for me being 10 it was painful I can't imagine my little one getting them especially that she doesn't talk yet and I wouldn't be able to know exactly what is bothering her.
I have had marissa get every single shot and she is also going on monday for her flu shot

Re: Chicken Pox Vaccine
autism is not linked to the chicken pox vaccine, the mmr was the vaccine in question, th other thing is a chld cannot die from chicken pox, as a newborn it is risky, but death is not a factor in the ae range that usually contract the disease, it is just very contagious so the CDC decided it could turn into a mini epedemc the school age kids so they made it a mandatory vaccine upon entrance to kindergarten. You have to get it every 10 years once you get the 1st shot, it's porbably better off getting the disease and getting it out of your system, if you get it again it is mild.

Re: Chicken Pox Vaccine
both my kids got the vaccine. happy they did too. chicken pox for small children can actually be fatal, its pretty rare, but possible.
