Child Care at a Gym
There is a brand new Power House gym opening up where I live. I am so excited. I used to go to the gym alot, but have only been doing yoga and walking since I was preggo and after DS was born.
My game plan is to take a class 4 times a week, the days I am off from work and put Gavin in the Child Care that is offered at the gym.
He will be almost 11 months when the gym opens and most likely will be there for 1 hr to 1 1/2 hr.
Ladies who have or do this, what has your experience been like?
I am thinking this might be a good opportunity for him to socalize with other kids. I am concerned about the bigger kids.

Re: Child Care at a Gym
I used to go to the Power House in Miller Place and used the daycare. It was fine,I would start out with a shorter time when you first start so your son can get used to it. The only thing I had to watch for was the Nursery getting over crowded with kids, big and small... and just meet who the sitter is so your comfortable. I do know there they dont change your child, you will be called if they have to use the bathroom and I think there is a limit (2 hrs) not sure.

Re: Child Care at a Gym
I have been bringing my son to the daycare at my gym since he was a little under 3 months old! He goes 3 to 4 times per week and he loves it there. When I come to pick him up sometimes he starts to cry. He's 11 months now.
I know that some of the babies around this age, who are going for the first time can have some seperation anxiety. You may want to go a couple times and just go on the treadmill so that if they need to call you out you won't be in the middle of a class.
I worry about the bigger kids sometimes too but for the most part the older girls love playing with the babies - so my son gets a lot of attention and it's really cute. Most of the kids in there are under 3 though and if they are school aged they usually just play video games on the computer and don't bother the younger kids.
Overall i think it's fantastic. I thank god every day for the gym daycare. i think it keeps me sane!
Also, my son has never gotten hurt.

Re: Child Care at a Gym
I had a lot of problems at first with DD. She cried and cried. After about a week she grew to love it. I think it's really good for her. Unfortunately we both keep getting sick (she gets sick and then passes it to me)...and it's happened a lot since I joined the gym. I'm going to keep bringing her as long as I can b/c I think it's good to build her immune system up and she's going to be exposed to these sicknesses sooner or later.

Re: Child Care at a Gym
I did the child care at my old gym and it was ok, it was a big room with a bunch of toys and a TV. I only did it twice, DD hated it and cried. There was monitors in the gym to watch your DC but I would watch it the whole time and would end up not getting much of a workout
