Child care not day care question
For anyone that has someone come to their home to care for their child while they are working- what would you say your best resource was in finding a trusting person to care for you DC. I realize I have been soooooo lucky to have my best friend and my mother able to watch my son while I work, but I think it is time for me to take on a few more hours and I think I will need to bring someone in part time. I am so nervous about finding someone and actually I don't have a clue as to where to look-any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Child care not day care question
My SIL found her person through another Nanny. But there are agencies who specialize in this that would be helpful too.

Re: Child care not day care question
We live in a large (400+ units) apartment building and found our nanny through the nanny network in the building. She watches children a few floors above us a few days a week and will watch Ainsley 2 days a week.
You can go through Nannyfinder.com - or check the Irish Echo for ads - or you can contact the Child Care Council of Long Island - do a google search for them, I completely forgot their address.
But the best resource is really other nannies - there's this whole network of nannies I didnt know about.

www.anannyonthenet.com might be able to help. They are expensive though. Or you could try Craigs List, where it's free. Of course you have to do all the background checks, etc. yourself.
