Child Identity Theft---a way to check...

I don't know if any of you were watching about the Child Identity Theft story on the Today Show this morning and the poor children that are bankrupt because of people stealing babies identities since they will not be used for years. Mine was stolen when i was 19 and caused a world of hurt for me. Trans Union is the only bureau that offers a check of your child social to make sure they have no credit file. I sent a request for Lauren and hope it comes back clean but i thought i would share:

ETA: If your child's comes back positive for some kind of credit file, they have information on putting a security freeze on your child's account to prevent anything or anyone from using it, i am considering doing that to Lauren's anyway but will wait for the report to come back. Identity Theft always makes me so nervous!

thanks for posting this, I watched the story on the Today show this morning and I was freaking out!

I need to do this and check. DD's ss never came when born n they claimed sent it to my inlaws address...never made it.

I hate to give proof n retriev it but it scares me that someone might of got a hold of it.
