Have you been a victim of credit card fraud / identity theft??
We are in the midst of digging out of this, and I'm in shock at all of the personal information these bastards were able to access and the amount of damage they were able to do in such a short amount of time.
Have you been a victim of identity theft?

Re: Have you been a victim of credit card fraud / identity theft??
someone managed to duplicate my check card -- and charged $300 at a gas station in lousiana.
luckily my bank caught it immediately -- and they weren't able to steal anything further concerning my identity. its such an awful feeling. i hated it!

Re: Have you been a victim of credit card fraud / identity theft??
I've had fradulant charges show up on my credit card. One of them was $1200 dollars for furniture at a store in the Bronx.
Not really a big deal. Made a phone call and it was taken care of. I didn't even bother to get a new card.

Re: Have you been a victim of credit card fraud / identity theft??
This happened to DH when we were in contract for our house. He thought his identity was stolen, but thankfully it was just his debit card number. His bank caught it and put a stop on it. The weird part was the person that stole the number was ordering stuff and having it sent to him. He got Gevalia coffee, Lifelock, all this nonsense. He had to make a lot of phone calls letting these companies know he did not make the purchase and someone stole his card number. He never opened anything that came for him and asked how to return the stuff. They were all really nice and told him to keep the stuff. He was refunded all of his money.

Re: Have you been a victim of credit card fraud / identity theft??
Yes, i had someone try to access my medical license to try to prescribe themselves drugs i assume. I had someone repeatedly call saying they were from the licensing board saying my privileges would be revoked if i didn't send a copy of my diploma, certification, birth certificate, ect.
i also had someone steal my credit cards and go on a spree and and received many calls about "bought" electronics.
This all occurred after my car was robbed at my place of employment in the Bronx. This has occurred more than once.
