Child Predator in Middle Village Queens...
My best friend e-mailed this to me and I thought I'd post it here so that any Queens moms can be aware:
Hi Moms
PLEASE BEWARE a silver car- four door, with a dark top. Man has grey hair, mid to late forties.
This happened TO ME yesterday afternoon after school. The Parent Coordinator of my kids school (PS 87) and I were just speaking briefly in the schoolyard. He said that he had just received notice that in Corona, there is a man asking kids what time they get out of school. I believe it was sent via email to all public schools just to alert them of a chld predator.
I thought it was weird and just continued to wait for my kids who get out at 2 and 2:15pm... by 2:30pm the schoolyard was empty because of the rain and I decided not to stand there until 3pm to wait for my other daughter, instead I'd come back at 3pm since we were all getting wet. I walked out of the schoolyard in the rain with my 1 yr old in my arms, and my 4 and 5 year olds walking beside me, stepping in puddles. We were going to either sit in the car or drop them off at grandma's house.
As we walked out of the schoolyard, a man stopped his car, then drove slowly, looking my way. At first I thought he was just looking for his child. He then proceeded to look, drive, look, drive. The schoolyard was EMPTY. I finally turned thinking he needed help and he asked ME "What time does the 8th grade get out? Did the 8th grade get out yet?" I said "I think so, I'm not sure" (Because the higher grades are dismissed from the other side of the building).
He then said "OK", drove off SPEEDING down the block, blew the stop sign and skidded very loud.
With my kids beside me, stepping in puddles, I focusing on them not wetting each other, holding my hand to cross the street, etc. I didn't make the connection until he blew the stop sign!! When I heard the loud skidding down the block (corner of 68th Avenue and 79th Street) I called the school principal and reported the incident. She immediately called the Parent Coordinator in and they reported the incident. I also reported the incident to the 104 Precinct. Shortly afterwards, I came back to the school alone to pick up my 2nd grader. I immediately went over to the parents waiting for their children in the school yard to tell them the story. --I had not even gotten to the part where I described the man or the car.
A man (parent) came up to me and said "I overheard you saying a man was driving around, but I didn't catch the whole story let me ask you a question, was it a four door silver car, dark top, the man in his late forties, maybe early fifties?"
I looked at him in shock and said "Yes, doo... you ... know him??
and he said "No, he tried to get my daughter to go with him the other day - by our house. She was standing on the sidewalk, I was by my truck about 10 feet away from her, but apparently he didn't see me. I heard a voice saying to my daughter "Where is your mommy? Where is your daddy? Do you want me to bring you to them? I'll take you to your parents, come on" - at that point, I said "Hey Buddy, what the hell are you talking about" and he sped away, I got his plate numbers and reported it to the 104 Precinct but have not heard back.
Two minutes later his daughter was dismissed from school and he told her to come over to me and he asked her to describe the guy. It sounded exactly like the guy I had just seen.
This has been reported to the Police Department and they are patrolling the area. Please guard your children!!!!!!!!!!!!!
