childrens photographer using pictures for business -question (sort of parenting related)

My friend had her DD's pictures done by a pro photographer few weeks ago. The photographer never had her sign a model release or ask if she could use pictures for advertisement/business or anything. My friend just saw that the photographer posted her DD's pictures on her website and her blog/facebook page.
My friend is very upset bc she doesn't really want her DD's pictures on FB or a blog (she doesn't even have any pictures of her or her family on her own FB page) she doesn't mind the pictures being on the website as much, but she feels like the photographer should have at least asked if nothing else.
She understands that the photographer owns the copy right but still... So doesn't know how to approach the photographer since she did a great job and my friend LOVES her work.
I don't really know much about business side of photography so I don't know what "rights" photographers have in this case.
How would you/how should she approach and handle this situation?

If it was me, and I did not sign a release, nor was I asked permission AND I had an issue with my child's picture being "out there" I would absolutely contact the photographer and request that the pictures be removed from FB and her blog immediately.

My photographer has put both my DSs pictures in fundraising calendars and I always was asked to sign a release.

She does put pictures on her FB page and tag the client they belong to. I've always asked her to do it for me, I'm not sure what she does with other clients though.

If the client doesn't sign the model release the photographer can't publish the images; it's as simple as that. I'd suggest to your friend that she asks the photographer to remove them if she's uncomfortable with it and she indeed did not sign a model release.

I would email the photographer & ask that the photos be removed. It's standard practice to ask for a release & if a client isn't comfortable with having photos published, I can't imagine any photographer would decline the request.

I can't see any photographer refusing to take the photos down upon request.

I just emailed her this link (since she wouldn't listen to me) and she just sent me a text and told me she sent an email to a photographer and asked her to take the pictures down.
I guess we'll see, thanks everyoneChat Icon
