i dont think its that important. I think whats more important is that if you are washing your china in the dishwasher, that you dont have the "heated dry" setting turned on.

Not at all. I have 1 set of antique china that was handed down to me and a 2nd set that's new and I'd never put either in the dishwasher.

ok... We need a new dishwasher. And every dish washer we looked at doesnt have the china setting. We thought that was pretty standard. BUT we have never even used our china so not sure we need it

I don't put my china in the dishwashers, sucked on Christmas when we had dinner for 16, so it doesn't matter to me.

we have the most basic dishwasher b/c I learned from my parents who started with one that had ever conceivable wash setting and broke less than a year after installation, the fewer the settings the longer it will last. My parents have gone through about 8 dishwashers in 25 years. So I am really familiar with them.

I have a china & crystal setting on mine. I used it for my crystal glasses they came out sparkling but hand washed my china.
