Chipped baby tooth...

DD chipped her baby tooth in the tub Chat Icon She cried for like 2 minutes, no blood, no apparent damage other than the chip. My ped said I don't need to take her to a dentist, but I think I want to. Any recs? I'm in Western Nassau.

Any BTDTs that can share perspective I'd appreciate that also. I feel like a terrible mommyChat Icon

Re: Chipped baby tooth...

There's really nothing that can be done. Eliza has bumped her teeth numerous times (she's a climber, but not the most graceful of creatures) and now they've started to turn grey.Chat Icon

We went to the dentist last week about it and he explained that it's possible for teeth to bruise and then heal (which is what I'm hoping is true for Eliza) back to their natural color. If after 3 months they stay grey, then it's likely the teeth are dead. If they abscess, she'll have them pulled. If they don't abscess, she'll have gray teeth until they naturally fall out. THAT upsets me......

So to answer your question: if they aren't loose or seem to hurt her (which indicates damage to the nerve), then there is nothing to really do- even for a chip. The bruising occurs about 2 weeks after the initial damage, and can take up to 2-3 months to go away.

Thank you for the information :)

Her hand has been in her mouth most of the day but she doesn't seem to have sensitivity to hot/cold (moreso than normal I mean). I'm so pi$$ed at myself Chat Icon

DON'T be ****** at yourself!! Liam broke his front teeth just about as soon as they came in. The ped. told us that maybe later on they would sand them down. It is just a little chip. So hopefully, they don't bruise and are okay. Chat Icon
