Chocolate covered oreos as favors?

Has anyone done this?
Can you share how you made them/packaged them?
Thanks so much!

Re: Chocolate covered oreos as favors?

I haven't made those...but let me know if you would be interested in Oreo Truffles.
I make these every year during the holidays, cause every one loves them.

Re: Chocolate covered oreos as favors?

Here's a link to an old post when I made them. I used molds to make the chocolate covered oreos and bought the bags from a local chocolate store.

I make oreo truffles all the time!

They are super easy.

Oreo Truffles:

1 package oreos (not double-stuffed)
1 package cream cheese (Philadelphia, full-fat, 8 oz)
chocolate for melting
sprinkles (optional)
vegetable shortening (crisco)

Crush 1 package of oreos (you can use mini-prep, food processor, or just put them into a ziploc and crush with a rolling pin). Mix with package of cream cheese (let sit at room temp so it's soft... then you can use food processor or just mix by hand or with hand-mixer). Roll into balls (I measured out a tablespoon and then rolled them into balls).... place on parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Put in fridge for 1 hour (at least - can be more). Once they are almost hard.... heat chocolate in double boiler (you can set a glass bowl over a pan of simmering/boiling water). If it's looking too thick, put in some shortening. Do it by the spoonful until it reaches a good consistency. Put 1 ball at a time into the chocolate and roll it around with a fork. Use the fork to take the truffle out and let the chocolate drip through the prongs of the fork. Place them onto a cookie sheet with wax or parchment paper and let them dry for a minute or two (I would dip about 5).... then roll them in a bowl of sprinkles and set aside (also on parchment paper covered baking sheet) to set. Voila!

They are so easy!

You don't HAVE to roll them in sprinkles... but they usually don't come out very "round" looking otherwise... so that's why I put them in the sprinkles.

Re: Chocolate covered oreos as favors?

The truffles are great!

You can even get a mold at any of the local chocolate stores, and instead of dipping them, put the filling in a mold (squares, truffle type molds, etc).

I am going to try that since I totally stunk at the dipping part.

Re: Chocolate covered oreos as favors?

I purchased these Oreo bride & groom molds from Michael's I believe- or maybe AC Moore. Anyway, we made them for the Candy Buffet at my wedding in May. Guests loooooooooooooooved them. I could easily see these wrapped in clear cellophane and tied with a pretty ribbon as favors! Here's a picture of how ours came out!

I make chocolate covered oreos all the time.

I wrap them usually 2 in a bag. I decorate them either with a contrasting color chocolate, sprinkles, flowers etc.

They are always a big hit!
