Chop meat in the fridge?
I bought chop meat Wednesday night and it was in my truck for a couple of hours. DH put it in the fridge and I forgot to freeze it. Is it still good? It looks browner than normal. The date on the package is 12/15.
ETA: It's over 6 lbs of ground beef, so I want to freeze it, not cook it today. Think it's ok?

Re: Chop meat in the fridge?
I would smell it first - if it smells ok, I'd rewrap it and freeze. If it's questionable, I would toss it. I froze meat I was borderline sure about and it turned out to be a waste of time and money.

It should be ok, but like a pp said, smell it first. Definitely wrap & freeze today, though.

smell it first, if it smells normal its fine freeze it. It would have sat on the shelf until 12/15 if you didn't buy it, and if it was on the top of the pile it wouldn't have been that cold, and your trunk is pretty cold.
