Christening/Baptism Question

Just wondering, how much is generally considered a good donation to a church following a christening or baptsim. FM me if you don't want to post!

Also, do you tip the priest or minister? In our case, the baptism is part of the weekly service, so it's not as if he's doing something on his own time. DH and I were thinking we'd rather give to the church, but again, I am not sure what is customary.

Thanks!

We "donated" $100...and didn't tip the priest.

Thanks! I was thinking a tip is a bit much, a donation to the church should be okay. That was around the amount we were thinking of as well.

Re: Christening/Baptism Question

We donated $200 only because we are active in the church. otherwise $100 is very generous!!!

Thanks for the suggestions! We spoke to the pastor last night, and we mentioned we would like to do this, and he actually refused the donation! He said we could incorporate it into our annual donation to the church if we would like, but he doesn't feel comfortable accepting money for performing a sacrament.

Interesting! Makes me feel good about the church.
