Christening favors opinions,,,

my dd is being Christened the nite before Easter Sunday, so i picked up a zillion pastel mini easter baskets for favors...figuring this would be cute, and what adult doesnt still like an Easter basket?? Chat Icon

So, my jewish mother, who is totally accepting of the fact that Ive converted (my father is catholic anyway) said to me..."Isnt the whole easter basket thing kind of exploiting? I mean, the bunny and basket have nothing to do with the religious aspect of the holiday"

needless to say, i was alil shocked she made this comment, well because first of all shes Jewish, and i figured she wouldnt care either way, we always got baskets..
and secondly part of it bothered me because i dont want anyone else to look at it this way...we take it VERY seriously, and i dont want it to seem like a blow off of a very important holiday...
whatdya think?
is this a bad idea? i kinda thought it was so cute at first, and now im worried im being insulting

I don't think it's any different than seeing Santa on Christmas - he has nothing to do with what Christmas is "really" about, KWIM? I really don't think a basket with candy in it will belittle what Easter is really about in my opinion.

I actually like the idea of you incorporating the easter basket favor into her christening. I don't think one guest will question why you are doing it, but instead will snatch up that very creative favor and love it - I know I would!

Exactly. I didn't get "religious" favors from every Christening I attended, they are usually edible or baby-themed. Don't worry about what your mom said.
