christening Outfit DIlemma
So DS' godmother is buying the christening outfit. I am Jewish so all this is new to me. I like things very simple, I'm not into ornate outfits for babies - as cute as they are, its just not me. Thing is - she loves that stuff. She keeps saying I'm the mom and need to be comfortable with what we get - but she offers her opinion and I feel since she's paying and its her family's tradition I owe it to her to listen a bit. So I'm trying to compromise on something with a little decoration, but not too much - but then I keep wanting to go back to simple. I guess I'm just venting - but would you try and find something in the middle or go with what you wanted at first? The thing is - I know DH's whole family feels the same as her, they'll want to see something "special".

it should definitely be something you like; it's your child. so I would say compromise and to be nice consider both of yuour likes. check out www.babybeauandbelle.com and http://www.christeningwear.ashop.com.au/. they have gorgeous stuff. simple but a little decoration; just as you explained. good luck!

i would try to find something in the middle ground as well...we got ours at strausburg children. it's not 100% necessary to use one of those HUGE gown things....you can do a basic dress. We did that & everyone LOVED the dress!

I have to say, this is why I bought DS's christening outfit before I asked the godmother. I'm kind of anal and like things my way, especially when it comes to the baby and my "vision". I know its kind of selfish but I dont want to look back on pictures and sigh, KWIM? You should definitely have say in what your daughter wears. She should compromise.

Re: christening Outfit DIlemma
Can you send her a bunch of outfits that you like and ask her if she likes any of them? At least that way she can hopefully "pick" from one of them (give her the final decision) but it will be from choices that you love?

I have to agree. If you're going to think about it every time you see a picture in the future, I think it's not worth it and that you should have some say in it.

I like this idea - it's a nice, diplomatic way to be tactful but share your taste with her.

Yeah, I did try that and it helped. But I just love the Owen one and the Jonathan one on babybeauandbelle - I did find some I like on other sites though and she told me which she liked out of them.

Re: christening Outfit DIlemma
What about something like this. Honestly i was the other way....I wanted something a little more formal and went with something more in line with what godmother wanted. It is a very soft fabric (almost like a carters sleep and play) so it was comfy for him, but had a little work on it to dress it up a little. in the end, I'm glad I went with this one.

That is so cute- and he's adorable! And I'm glad to see you have the bib with it. She also thinks it needs to be fancy to go with the satin bib, but I think it looks fine with cotton. I want him to be comfortable too.
