Just buy the 1.5L of Barefoot or Pindar or Sutter Home; do a mix of pinot and merlot and a few zin, cab and chard. Don't forget to ask the liquor store for a bulk discount.

I agree, get a mix of whites and reds so everyone is happy. Also I get white zinfandel bc there are a bunch of people in my family that like that.

I would ask the clerk at the liquor store on the quantity though. I am always so bad with judging how much to buy. I usually end up over buying but its not a problem since I am a wine drinker.

3 white, 2 red should be fine. I'd go with Yellow Tail since it is cheaper yet still good.

Are you having other alcohol too? Is the crowd into wine? I would say 7 each of pinot and merlot, then maybe 3 each of zin, chard and cab Chat Icon

How many tables are you having? I would at least have one red and one white for each table. Probably two if there is no other alcohol.

For DS's we have about 50 ppl I bought 2 bottles of red and 2 bottles of white.

I think I had a bottle of each left...i think more white was drank. I think most ppl drank from the keg

Get a nice Riesling, like Hogue or Relax. They are $9.99 and taste delicious. Put that along with the Pinot/Sauv Blancs.

Re: Christening party-what wine to buy??

this may sound ghetto, but Targets Wine Cube is pretty good. I love their chardonnay and they have a nice cabernet sauvignon. The box keeps it fresh for a long time too. And they are priced well. Both of those were rated 89 and 90 by wine enthusiest. I never thought I'd enjoy boxed wine. lol.

I'd say def get a decent selection for all palates. Chardonnay and savignon blanc for whites

Merlot and a cabernet or cabernet blend for reds.

Re: Christening party-what wine to buy??

do you live near Stew Leonards in Farmingdale (airport plaza?).. go there- great prices.

I would get 2 cases... one red, one white (or split between red, white & pink.. if you have rose drinkers...

they could help you and direct you to the best priced wine...

I try and stay away from anything in a magnum or box... that's just me though

edited to say: OK so 80 people in my world would drink 2 cases.. LOL.. that's bad.

I would get one case split between both white & red and go to stew leondards, they won't steer you the wrong way ;)
