Christian Bale Visits Shooting Victims in Colorado
Christian Bale, who stars in The Dark Knight Rises, is visiting the victims of the Aurora, Colo., shooting spree who were injured while watching a midnight showing of the movie.
According to a local Denver TV reporter, Bale was seen entering the hospital where many of the wounded are being treated.
"Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers," an assistant for Susan Fleishman, executive vice president for Warner Brothers corporate communications, tells the Denver Post.
The newspaper also posted a photo of Bale posing next to a bandaged man.
Bale, who was in Europe with the rest of the cast to promote the film when news of the killings broke last week, released a statement Friday offering his condolences to the victims and their families.
"Words cannot express the horror that I feel," he said Friday. "I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."
Twelve people were killed including a 6-year-old girl, and more than 50 were wounded when a gunman opened fire on the audience. James Holmes, the suspected shooter, was in court Monday in Centennial, Colo. He has been held in solitary confinement without bond.

Integrity. So touching to see him to 'the right thing' and reach out like that -- it was just a movie he was in, but he went out of his way to do this. That's impressive.

I love that he called the hospital to set up a visit and asked that the media NOT be notified so he could have privacy with the victims. He apparently also met with first responders, medical staff, and the Mayor.

This was such a great thing for him to do. I love that he did not do it on behalf of the studio or the movie or anything and that he set it up himself and asked that the media not be notified. It shows the sincerity of his visit.
Despite all the bad press he gets, I still totally love him.
