Re: Christian or Catholic pre schools question
Not as a "subject" but i am pretty sure they talk about the birth of Jesus for Christmas, and probably celebrate Easter for more than the bunny

Re: Christian or Catholic pre schools question
My girls went to Catholic PreK....
They didnt get formal religious training as part of the curriculum. But they did do plenty of craft projects that were religiously based....
They also said a prayer before snack and before lunch.
That was pretty much it though.
DS attends a Jewish preschool. They do pretty much the same. Craft projects may be religiously based and they do Shabbat on Fridays.
But that's about it.
Im going to say that at both schools it was more of cultural type of thing rather than religious...

Re: Christian or Catholic pre schools question
My DD is in a Catholic School Pre-K. I echo what Heather said,.... While the subject of religion is not taught per say, they whole idea surrounding everything is faith-based. So there are prayers, the Pledge of Allegiance, Christmas and Easter teachings, etc. They take the children into the Church once in while and show them the altar, the Jesus, Mary, etc.

Re: Christian or Catholic pre schools question
My DD goes to a Christian preschool. They don't have formal religious lessons, but they do teach some things. DD has come home with a few verses like "Children, obey your parents, for this is right". She also once told me the story of Noah and how he listened to God even though everybody made fun of him. And their Christmas concert was in the church.

Re: Christian or Catholic pre schools question
DD is in a catholic nursery school and there is an opening prayer, prayer before snack and closing prayer.
Many of the items she brings home are religious in nature and her Christmas concert had all religious songs - I don't recall one traditional holiday song.
Tilde - make sure you price them out because in my research, the Catholic nursery schools and pre-k are often cheaper than the traditional nursery schools. I know in my circle of friends I pay the least for nursery school.

ITA with this...as far as the price goes any way...
I know this was years ago but when my girls went to PreK it was much cheaper than other schools.
From my experience churches are usually on the least expensive side...

Re: Christian or Catholic pre schools question
DS goes to a Methodist program and I don't think it's taught but references to religious things may be made around the holidays.

Same here. But they also try to include lessons in other religions and traditions. I go in every year (well the past two ) and read a book about Chanukah and do a Chanukah based craft project with them. I also get them a menora for the classroom.

The Catholic preschools I checked out were ridiculously priced too. I send DD to a Christian one, I think Lutheran, and it was the lease expensive of all that I checked into.

This EXACTLY. I was paying less for Catholic School than any of my friends were paying for other pre-K's. For the 3 year old program, I was paying $178 a month. All of the others were well into the $200 per month range.

Re: Christian or Catholic pre schools question
I teach in a Catholic Pre-K. We do a lot of Jesus loves you & Jesus wants us to love e/o. We do have a religion handout every Friday based on the Sunday liturgy & we do a morning/afternoon prayer & prayer b4 lunch. A lot of our crafts are religion based & we do go to church, receive ashes, etc.

Re: Christian or Catholic pre schools question
my girls went to a 2 year old program and mainly did crafts.
in nursery and prek they learn their prayers like hail mary, our father and grace before meals. They also have a religion lesson with a scripture story & workbook pages.

Re: Christian or Catholic pre schools question
I just started looking at pre k for my DS. The one catholic school one I looked at said you have to buy a religion workbook and they do teach them the Our Father, Sign of the cross as well as other prayers. This is at a catholic school that goes pre-k through 8th grade.
Most that are associated with a church, do not shy away from God but I didnt get the feeling they do religious teachings just a prayer before eating and such.
