Cash or Bond so I could start my child's savings for college.

I'm no help-I think all of those are very nice.

Earrings are a nice keepsake - I still have my cross, a bracelet and earrings I recieved for baptism/communion.

Cash/check is nice that way parents can invest it for their child.

Bond is nice because it matures, DD & DS received alot of these, but given the current economy-I hope they will mature!

I agree.
Any of them is a nice gift.

If I had to choose, I guess cash so then I could invest it myself.

I would do cash or earrings. I am always nervous I am going to misplace the bonds.

Re: Christianing gift - parents which do you prefer?

definitely cash or check- the savings bonds have such a ridiculous interest rate!

Cash...and for the only reason is that I lost the bonds that DD1 was given for her christening. Even though I thought I was being careful with them...in our move I'm afraid they may have been thrown out (although I could be mistaken and the envelope will somehow miraculously appear after almost a year)
At least the cash that DD1 was given was put into a savings account that we opened for her.

Cash or Check. That's all we got for DS Christening.
