Christmas Gift Help
We do Secret Santa on my DH's side - and we picked his sister and her husband. They just dormered there house - and things are still pretty much a mess. She isn't really into her home that much and doesn't have some of the essentials that the rest of the world prob. has (like dishtowels and stove mittens)
SO - I thought I would make her a nice Home basket - putting in things like dishtowels, hot plates, salt and pepper shaker, napkin holder, dessert plates, etc. What else can I put in there? All of that stuff won't really add up to much $$.
Any input would be great! Thanks!

Re: Christmas Gift Help
I think she would like all that stuff because a few years ago for Xmas - we got her dessert Christmas mugs and plates -- well - she uses that set ALL year long. I think she wants all the stuff but doesn't really know what to buy. Does that make sense?

Re: Christmas Gift Help
is it just for her? I don't know if the guy will dig a basket full of kitchen stuff.
another idea is a plaque for outside the house that either has their address on it or the ones that say "The Smith Family Est. wedding date"

so shes house decorating challenged!
Then your idea is great. But you should put something in it that would also make the husband happy

Re: Christmas Gift Help
I was thinking of getting him beer mugs.
BUT
This is also my reasoning with her DH -- he went out and bought flat screen TVs for every room in their house - and she hasn't gotten a thing she has wanted in ages. That's why I really don't mind that the gift is geared more towards her. Is that wrong?

Re: Christmas Gift Help
I'm very rarely in the kitchen , but this is what I use most: *Oven mitts *Silicon Spatulas *Heat Resistant Spoons (Matfer makes them) *Oneida Cutting Boards (I have the large and small...they're great b/c the rubber handles keep them from sliding around on a wet counter) *Oxo Good Grips Angled Measuring Cups

If that's the case, then I would go to Target or Homegoods and get her some plates, cups, glasses etc. for at least 4 people, maybe 6.

Re: Christmas Gift Help
what about throwing in a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant -

Re: Christmas Gift Help
it sounds like you have some great ideas here.. I would def consider maybe adding in something he likes-maybe coffee... or something they can enjoy together as a couple! Sounds like a great basket though!

Re: Christmas Gift Help
Some of these might have been suggested but I'm thinking of the things I love most in my kitchen:
Heat resistant spatulas OXO Measuring cups (tilted) Kitchen Aid Silicone Bakeware Those Made in France silicone sheets to bake on - with the orange borders Mixing Bowls (Homegoods usually has cute ones) Cutting boards (wood and plastic) Dough Cutter Wax Paper Measuring Spoons...I have two sets because I can only find one at a time
Maybe you want to throw in some McCormick Items like: Vanilla Extract Food Coloring Pumpkin Spice Nutmeg Cinnamon
And then some things like: Cake Mix Brownie Mix Frosting Sprinkles
Just some ideas...sounds like a great gift idea that you have!
