Christmas gifts if your DC has a 1:1
Do you get the 1:1 something "bigger/better" than the other aides in the class? And the teacher?
I'm sort of inclined to get her something better than the other aides in the class, and better than the teacher because she is really the one working with my DD the WHOLE time she is in school. I even went in one day at lunch time, and she eats her lunch with my DD...doesn't even take a lunch break! 2 of the other aides in the class are 1:1 aides for other children...do I give them a little something? I'm sure they don't ignore DD when she is there; I'd think that if she needs something and they see, that they help her.

I do not give the other 1:1 aides something, as I don't even know them, and they are not helping my child. I do spend a little more on his aide than I do the other staff we give to though (usually still only around $20-25 though depending). My son has had the same one for three years now, and I really like how much she helps him out. She also gives him something for Christmas, as well as at the end of the year.

Yes...I go broke at christmas time. DD has a 1:1 but it rotates between 3 women. Then I have 5 other aides in the class and while they do not work directly with DD they do interact quite a bit. I also have 4 aides in the class she pushes into and 2 main teachers. So I give the teachers and the rotating 1:1s nice gifts, the others something small as a token, Either a baked good or a Starbucks $10 GC.

AJ doesnt have a 1:1 but there are 6 PT 1:1 in his class. even though they are a 1:1 to another child, they all service ALL children. but if that specific child they are assigned to, needs them, they tend to them over my DS.
as a class we have decided to get all aides a gift, and each parent has can get something special for that 1:1 they have for their child

My child is much older than most of yours, and in middle school, so yes, his aide only helps him, and the other aides only help their student.

Re: Christmas gifts if your DC has a 1:1
I was planning on getting the teacher a nice gift- about $25. We have 5 aides in my DS's class and they all rotate weekly. So I am not sure if I can afford more than $5 or $10 per aide. Also what about PT, OT, ST and nutritionist? What are you giving to them?
Last year I gave the teacher a $25 gift card and his 1:1 aide a $20 gift card. I didn't give the other aide's anything because they weren't as involved. I gave the therapists $10-$20 each depending on how much we saw them.
