Christmas/Office advice
So I had my review today. And for the first time in all my life, I got a bad review. I was somewhat blindsided but whatev. It was only my "qualitative" review. I find out my raise & bones (if I even get one now), next week.
The real question is.... what do I give my bosses for the holidays? Last year I had just started so I have no real history. Do I wait to find out if I am getting a raise/bonus & then decide?

Re: Christmas/Office advice
I think the general philosophy is gift down rather than up.
You could always bring in cookies or a treat for the whole office as a holiday gift.

Re: Christmas/Office advice
I'm sorry to hear of your review. It always stings to hear negative things, especially when you least expect it.
As far as gift-giving, it's not necessary to "gift up". Usually you gift down. So you shouldn't feel obligated to get them anything.
If you really want to, you can get them each an inexpensive bottle of wine, a box of chocolate, or cookies. But again, it's not necessary.

Re: Christmas/Office advice
It is not customary nor expected to give gifts to your superiors at work. You might see what other people in YOUR particular office do, but generally it is not expected for you to buy for your boss.

Re: Christmas/Office advice
I would agree with just buying a treat for the office to share and not specifically to your boss.
We ordered these brownies to send to clients for holiday gifts...They are soooooooo good. All week we've been getting emails of people raving about how good they are. Fairytale Brownies

Re: Christmas/Office advice
our office gifts up- but its three of us gifting up to one- ($10-15 per person)... you dont need to give your gift til the holiday week so you could wait to seee what you get as a raisee
