Church and Children (infants)

So I made a promise and I intend to keep it...

Hubby and I will start going to church and set up an environment of learning for Arianna.

Problem is.. which church and when?

Not asking for a fight here, but give me ideas of what you look for in a church and if you have any suggestions on religions I am open (with the exception of only two.. Catholic and Pedicostal - Mom and Dad were those. One I'm not baptized, the other I've had enough of)

I want her to know the bible and have a sense of what the majority of the world generally believes in. The details, however, are not as important to me and I believe she should be able to question them as much as I will. Oh and VERY important I want no pressure to baptize/dedicate me or my child. Chat Icon

thanks in advance

Re: Church and Children (infants)

I attend a Christian church in the city...as Catholics, Pentecostal, etc. are all Christian....

Our church is really about having a personal relationship with God, there is no pressure to do anything.

I feel 100% comfortable there... I felt a connection the first time I walked in there...and really that's what you have to do...attend different churches...you will know when you found the one for you and your family.

Here is their website if you are willing to travel:

I belong to Bellmore Presbyterian church - just joined for the same reasons you have. Very nice group and no pressure. Also the sermons are great!

Re: Church and Children (infants) - huntington

Im open to any and all churches.

Believing in God and Christ are the cornerstones of my beliefs.

All churches that believe that Christ was God's son are Christian, its really that simple, for me.

I've got a few presbyterian and lutheran churches by me. I don't remember trying them out back in the day (i've been to a LOT of churches and also completed the 7 discussions of Mormonism, so you could say, I've been around).

Anyone know any churches around here in Huntington Station/Dix Hills area?

I'm episcopalian - my parents were Lutheran and Presbyterian - but they liked the episcopal church. I find that a lot of the catholics tend to come to our church when they want to get remarried or they are tired of the catholic church. I find it to be a very welcoming church - I would say you should check out:
Episcopal, Lutheran, Prebyterian, Methodist and Unitarian - community churches - they all and most protestant churches tend to be very welcoming. Good luck finding a place you enjoy. I think the best way would be to try out a few churches in your area and see which one you click with and congregation you seem to fit into the best.

Re: Church and Children (infants)

I'm Lutheran and DH is Catholic, but we were married and our kids were baptized in the Lutheran church. We live in Port Jeff now, but if we were closer I would absolutely go to Gloria Dei in Huntington Station every week. I LOVE PAtor Paul, its a great congregation, they have a large sunday school and preschool, and they just started M.O.P.S --- a moms group.
