CIO moms.. question
If you are a mom who used/uses CIO, do you put it on the back burner when CD is sick?
DS currently has his first cold/fever/overall sickness and is very smooshy (wanting to be held a lot).
Just wondering if you use or don't use CIO when your DC is sick.

Re: CIO moms.. question
DS has been sick once - he was 10.5 mos - it was less than one month after we started CIO - I threw it out the window completely - there was no crying at all - I'm a wimp like that - he even slept in our bed at times and i went to him immed when he cried. we just started it up again when he was completely better. it wasn't fun but everything has been fine since. sorry ds is sick hope he feels better soon!

Re: CIO moms.. question
i do...it kills me when they're sick...let alone having them cry anymore than they have to.
I'll warn you that he may take some time to readjust to CIO (they forget quickly) but he will. Especially since Lucas was pretty much a CIO poster baby.
Hope he's getting better. Poor guy
ETA: matthew also sleeps in our bed when he's sick. I'm a sucker!

Re: CIO moms.. question
I think all of the rules go out the window when they are sick. I look at it as DD had a hard time self-soothing to begin with and now I would expect her to do it with other extenuating circumstances; it just didn't seem fair to do that to her.

CIO poster baby... that's funny Lisa!
And guess what... he slept in our bed last night for the first time ever! I don't think any of us got a great night sleep with Lucas thrashing around, but it made me feel better to have him close by.
So far, he's still down for now, but we will see how the rest of the night goes! Can't wait to go to the doctor tomorrow!

Re: CIO moms.. question
I totally comforted her when she was sick. However, she really didn't have too much trouble sleeping through the night - even sick... I think being sick made her so tired. Anytime she's sick she gets the comfort she needs. We don't do the sleeping in our bed thing - I think she's too little and we have cats. When she's old enough I'll probably cuddle her in her bed. She had no problems readjusting to CIO. Lights out = she's sleeping. Not sure how that happened, but it works for her. TG!
