CIO question
So I'm soooo apprehensive to do this..the reason being, I tried a mini version of it the other night, and Chels is the type of baby that can whine for an hour before there is a full blown screaming crying fest....So the other night she was whining for a bit and I though I'd let her whine and she'll fall back asleep, the thing is she whines with her eyes closed, well I let her whine until she started screaming with eyes wide open....so what do I do in this situation!!!
Thanks in advance!!!

Re: CIO question
for me, whining was not crying. I didn't start the clock until it was full blown crying.

Re: CIO question
jen, i never start the clock until lits full blown crying either..i agree with the above poster.. i say, spend two or three nites with it, and thats probably all youll need.. let her whine, let her wake herself up and cry..and then start it...eventually (and the first nite may take AWHILE, but remember, no baby has been hurt from crying) she WILL fall asleep.. DS took 2 1/2 hours the first nite 1 1/2 hours the second, and then 45 minutes the 3rd..he NEVER woke up in the middle of the nite again.. and if Mila wouldnt have started STTN, i wouldve done the same thing with her!!
good luck, lemme know how it goes!!

yup..... Same here.. Alexa is a whiner I don't start counting until its full blown crying. She can whine on and off for about 45 min and I don't go in.
It's SO HARD... But we had night 2 last night and already A HUGE improvement in ALexa.
Below is my sleep log for the past 2 days of CIO. I'm doing it for night and naps. This is just an example so you see how things went.
Every time you see "retime" it means she stopped crying hard or went to fussing and you start timing again because this means they are trying to self soothe. Summers Post on CIO is GREAT. I'll bump it for you as well.

Re: CIO question
thanks ladies, I'm such a weakling.....she's not a huge cryer, so thats why I think it kills me when she does cry, bc she doesn't cry normally...UGH, I think I may have to toughen up...
