City moms - things to do near Museum of Natural History?
I'm taking Cai for the weekend to the city. We are staying at my parent's apartment.
I was going to take him to the Museum of Natural History on Sunday - not sure how much time we will be there for - but are there other paces to go and do with a 3.4 yr old in that area?
ETA - I know we are near Central Park - I will do that as well - but something other than the park....

The Children's Museum of Manhattan is on the Upper West Side. I think W83rd. It's nice. There is a children's Festival in Harlem this w/end if you want to brave it up to 135th st. with live music, dance, arts and crafts, films etc.. There is an exotic animal shop on W87th and Broadway w/ a reptile room and crazy birds.

I'll see - we are getting into the city late afternoon Saturday - but if he is still happy and well behaved, I will definitely take the subway up - he loooves the subway!
It's so funny - I grew up in manhattan, but living on LI, I feel so out of the loop - I don't know what's around anymore
Are there any festivals going on downtown? We like the village and Soho area better than uptown....

You're right across the street from Strawberry Fields...you could spend the whole day in Central Park.

Ooooh - thanks!!!!!
Morgan - I am considering just staying in Central Park for the day - but it depends on Cailen's mood - sometimes he needs an "activity" and sometimes he can be loosey goosey and just play in a park....

I would go to Central park. They have rides there too. Not sure it will stay open. Of course there is the central park zoo and petting zoo. That will be plenty for a little guy.

have fun!!!! Thanks - I think he would love to go to the planetarium - he is already so excited about the dinosaurs, so I think the whole experience will be amazing for him. Last time we went he was a baby - maybe 1, and he was not tuned in to any of it - now he is a little man and is going to be in heaven!!!
