Civil service employment
At 38 is it pointless to bother with civil service exams? How long do you need to work in order to get retirement benefits? TIA!

Civil service employment
A friend of mine didn't take an exam until she was 40. It was worth it to her. I don't know how long you would need until you were eligible for retirement, though.

I think it is 15 years full-time. So if you are looking at a crossing guard or something with part time hours it will take a long time.
